HK Expert project

Ok, I need help from those who are familiar with HK USP AND Expert/Tactical models. I'm going to be spending some serious dough, so I want to make sure I can do this project. I located a U.S. dealer who sells the HK Expert in .40 S&W caliber. This gun is set up similar to the U.S. .45 Expert without the European mag funnel. The gun comes with two 10 round magazines, both of which have the tactical lip extension. CAN I purchase 13 round hi-cap .40 mags for the HK USP, take off their baseplates, and swap with those from my .40 Expert purchase? Would everything function properly? Basically I would like a .40 Expert with 13 round mags that looks like the .45 Expert. What a pain in the a*s our Gov't is sometimes...

I think you can do it with some minor work to the magazine floorplate. The problem is that the square holes that the floorplate holds on to are higher on the 10-rounders... and there is a spacer on the floorplate of the 10-rounders to make sure that the clips still attach. If you cut that spacer off, I THINK it will fit okay, and it should be legal since you are not making a low cap mag into a high cap.

You will NOT be able to put that floorplate back into the 10 rounder if you modify it. Actually you will, but I think it will fall out after you load it up.

Take both mags apart and look at the parts. It should be obvious.
