No! Meant what I said. The GUN is a law enforcement product at this time and not civilian.
Look, HK has some fantastic product, but the management of this company is failure. The distribution is set up so that you have civilian and LE products separate. Ten thousand dollars to become a civilian dealer and eight thousand to be a LE dealer. If you want both, it will cost eighteen thousand dollars to play. Not all civilian dealers are LE dealers and they cannot purchase LE products direct from HK. A firearms dealer has to purchase from either a participating HK law enforcement dealer or distributor. And, HK will not sell LE guns without the standard capacity magazines. It's an LE gun.
If you saw a 40 Expert with the magwell removed, it was a LE gun that was converted by the firearms dealer and not by HK. FFL can sell to anyone without any restriction. If its a civilian sale, all the dealer has to do is peel the LE magazines and add a pair of ten round magazines instead.
Why is this so important? Cost! Or, you can look at it as bang for the buck. HK just had a $50 price increase pre gun as of January first. Also, the method of distribution has been changed again. There will no longer be any LE dealer as of the first of the year and ten or twelve distributors will be put in their places. These new distributors have exclusive territories, no one else can sell LE products in their territories and they will set their own prices for these LE products. Cartel atmosphere and no competition!
So now, unless HK actually distributes a authentic civilian 40 Expert, expect to pay hundreds of dollars more for a product that need modifications out of the box. And does not look esthetically pleasing when converted. There is a sharp corner on the back strap when the well is removed that looks like garbage. Thirteen hundred bucks for a gun that looks like that. I think that most savvy buyers will pass.
