I like it. It's not for tight target work, but can be picked up very easily. It does have limitations, it isnt a night sight by any means. The light source coming from different angles can reduce its effectiveness somewhat, but overall I like it on the one gun I have it on.
As my eyes have continued down hill I have given some thought to utilizing those sights, I dont like the lack of nightime use or the large moa capability........I have been playing with the idea of putting a tritium cylinder in one of the light tubes in such a way as it would be the light source---it should provide a usable night sight......well maybe anyway.....fubsy.
My eyes aren't too great either but the best option is to practice point shooting at about 10-15 feet...after a while, you won't even need your sights, which you probably won't see anyway in a real gunfight....
The Hi Viz is a good idea. I've read the ones on S&W factory revolvers are also very durable. I tried one on a S&W 44 SPL titanium revolver & the Green dot in front is very fast to aim for my 50 yr. old eyes.
I like them. I have one on my 617. I've seen a Fiber Optic and Tritium Hybrid sight made by Aro-Tek for Glocks. I wonder whether it could be modified for a revolver?
I had one a Glock 26, awesome sight. The quickest sight I have used period. I used a plain Heine rear sight and the HiViz fit within the notch perfectly. I am trying to talk Hi Viz into making one for the Ruger SP 101.
My Model 66 came from S&W with a Hi-Viz front sight. At the indoor range where I shoot, the front sight is very easy to see--more so, for my middle-aged eyes, than a conventional white dot on a blade. So, I believe it's a good feature. The black V-notch of the rear sight seems to work, but I haven't quite made up my mind about it
my eyes just "ain't what they used to be" and I installed HIVIZ sights on my S & W 686P with a 2.5" barrel. I just got a S&W 386 with factory installed HIVIZ signts. Both were in orange and, for me, it has been a real assist to picking up the front sight quickly. Maybe they aren't for target work but they sure do help me. Good shooting
I like the HIVIZ on the little snubbies. They actually capture alot of light in low light environments. Pretty cool but dont replace night sights at all.
My sons "buck" bb gun came with one also...for whats its worth.
Shoot well
