His and Hers

Finally made my choice.

We picked up a Shield for her, and a 9c for me.

The trigger on the shield is pretty smooth and breaks pretty clean, just a very small bit of creep, it is just a little heavy, but not bad.

The trigger on the 9c broke fairly clean with just a little creep, but there was definitely some staging due to the striker block. So I did my usual polishing of the various parts and smoothed out the radius of the striker block plunger.

Result was a much smoother pull, with no staging, almost no creep, and a clean break.

I may do a little polishing on the shield, but I will let her shoot it a bit first.

The Shield cost us $380, and the 9c was on sale for $440...

I just had to antagonize over it a bit... but I got there in the end.

The prices are not bad for buying local in a shop. I could have saved a few bucks online but I like to get local if the price isn't too high.

Well I can say I have the "family" set...

M&P full size, compact, and shield.

It was completely by chance and not design. As we didn't set out to purchase anything, nor did we have any particular brand loyalty going on. I love my full size now that I have an apex FSS kit, but she is ambivalent about it. If we do have any brand loyalty going, it's to CZ and Sig...

We decided to stop in the cabelas and PSA store to look around. Cabelas tends to at least have a wide selection to look through if not good prices. So we were looking around and comparing small pistols. Compairing feel in the hand, triggers, controls... the usual. Some we didn't like the triggers, some felt odd to hold, others had controls that weren't quite right, and yet others felt nice but the cost was climbing.

Then we tried the shield, it was the last in the line... I had picked them up before but it had been awhile. I was genuinely surprised with how the trigger felt, and it felt good in the hand as I remembered. The miss'ess felt the same way, and when she found out they were on sale at PSA, the wheels started turning in her head. A trip to the PSA range for a quick try before you buy rental, and she made up her mind, she wanted the shield.

They had several of the safety model in stock, but no non safety version. Cabelas was willing to price match but only had one in stock... That is what lead me to question getting the shield for myself. As I could order one from PSA and have it in a couple weeks, I was in no hurry, or I could choose the compact, as it was also on sale.

So after a little brain racking and soul searching... I decided to just get the compact.

I try to support my local economy and buy American when ever possible. 1st Marine Division, 3rd Marines, Fleet Marine Force.
