Does anyone have any experience with Hirtenberger ammo in .308? I am considering buying some for my M1A and would like to get some feedback if possible.

Thanks.

I used it for a few years. In SP, it was my deer hunting ammo for awhile. I recently had a failure to fire with one, though in all honesty it was part of my 10rd. deer hunting stash and had probably sat in hours of rain and snow storms while I hunted over a span of about 4 years. It seems to be pretty high pressure. I had a few sticky case extractions, but it chronographed high as I recall (haven't checked it in about 2-3 years). Probably great in a semi-auto.

I've been trying different milsup in .308--Hirtenberger (Austria), Radway Green (Britain), and PMP (South Africa) so far. The most accurate has been the Hirtenberger. Though I'm new to centerfire rifle shooting (I have shot .22s all my life), I managed a 1/2" group with the Hirtenberger the very first time I tried groups at 100 yards. The Hirtenberger is also Boxer primed and therefore reloadable. Most milsurp is Berdan primed.

The Hirtenberger is a bit more expensive but worth it I think. I will buy more of it when I get the chance.

Kgs, I use it in my M1A and it works fine. I've also used it in my Remington 700 VS and had very good results. My best group with the 700 was .5 MOA. I usually buy it by the case for better pricing. There are several people here that shot it. It was recommended to me from someone on this board.

I've had good resilts with the stuff. shoots well, never malfunctioned on me and not too dirty. It clocks about 2607fps average. I think it is one of the best milsurp cases to reload not counting L.C.brass. The price is coming down some I've seen 200 rd battle packs for 35.00. its good stuff check it out

Yes I agree good clean nato spec ammo,
I picked up 2 cases at the last show. Paid .17 per round
in case lots. Comes packed in wood crates with 5-200 round
battle packs. Shoots @ 1.5" out of a FAL.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I do appreciate it. :D
I went ahead and ordered a couple of the battle packs today and I am looking forward to trying it out in my M1A.
