Hilarious "gunsmithing" article

This is from a four part series about 'smoothing' a Taurus 92. Some highlights:

Installing a huge rear sight, without considering the front sight elevation.
Filing the slide, instead of the sight.
Installing the rear sight crooked. If you click on the rear sight picture it is abundantly obvious.

Add to it the editorial "we" and general tone, and this website is one of the most tragic and sad gun enthusiast websites or videos I've ever come across. If it was just a little funnier, I'd assume it was a joke.

This is part 3 of 4. Check the sight archives for the rest of the brilliant article and enjoy:

Aside from its entertainment value, this article also serves as a great how not to do it guide to gunsmithing.

Filing the slide, instead of the sight.

Many years ago, (early 1980's) this technique was not that unusual. Way back then I purchased a basic gun repair and maintenance tool kit from Brownell's, and it had a single sided sight file for just that purpose. I still have that file, but I've never used it for that purpose.

Initial evaluations of the sight suggest it will be a significant improvement over the original sights on this semi-auto firearm.
Initial evaluations of the sight suggest that you should not be given a file to butcher a semi auto firearm.:D:D

At least the rear sight isn't on backwards.
I've seen 'em like the original style in Fig. 1 that way.
"When in doubt, get a bigger hammer".

Farmboy is correct. In the days when installing adjustable sights on surplus ($25.00) M1911A1's was a common gunsmith job, we usually filed the slide dovetail rather than the sight. The reason, at least in part, was that it was very difficult to hold some of the sights of that time in order to file them down. I never really understood why the sight makers couldn't make dovetails that fit the existing slots.

Goes to show how much you should trust info from people on the internet. Luckily he posted the pics to show how bad he is rather than just putting a "how to" post on an internet forum with no pics ....
