Which one the victor citation or what ? I am looking to possible buy a high standard target gun, can you guys educate me on a good choice ?

New or used? Hamden, East Hartford, Texas? A lot of variables with these. The Victor has a ribbed barrel, and the rib extends over the slide for the rear sight mount. The Supermatic Citation and Trophy are almost the same gun, I believe the finish and default trigger weight were the only differences, and could be had (depending on vintage) with the military frame or the older slant frame. Both have a bridge mount for the rear sight. I would recommend going over to to the rimfirecentral.com forum, they have a good High Standard section.

That being said, my father gave me his military frame Citation, an early E. Hartford gun, and it's easily the most accurate gun I've ever shot. When I was shooting a lot, it wasn't a big deal to place 5 rounds in a group the size of a nickel at 25 yards, unsupported!! (two hand hold though :D)

Keep in mind that these were designed around standard velocity ammo, use of HV ammo can eventually crack the military frame around the slide lock. Because of this, I bought a Ruger Mk. II for plinking, to keep the high standard in top shape.

All I can tell you is I'm really happy with my Hi Standard Victor, but don't own anything else to compare it to. I've shot a few others but not side-by-side. It's amazingly accurate with a good trigger, but the slide (probably on most internal hammer Hi Standards) isn't the easiest to operate.

Agreed! However, since it's not really dry-fire friendly, just keeping it cocked is the easier course of action, at least that's what I've found!

High Standards are great pistols. But beware, they tend to multiply... :D
