High Standard Military problem

Hi I had my High standard HD Military field stripped and the slide was removed and somehow I managed to tap the trigger and drop by mistake the hammer.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Thanks!

If you can't figure out how to push the hammer into the "cocked" position, I suggest you take the gun to a gunsmith- and never take it apart again.

If you didn't do anything except remove the slide, you should be able to just cock the hammer with your finger, then hold it back/down while you put the slide back on. If you messed up and either did not capture the recoil spring or let it go, you have a real problem, and come back for more help.

Go to the High Standards section [inside 'other 22s'] at rimfire central dot com.

Someone there can give more detailed directions.

It can be a pain to re-cock, as the hammer rotates too far forward when the slide isn't there to stop it.

I wish you luck.

Check to see if the hammer strut is properly seated in the "cup" of the mainspring plunger. If it is not, the hammer can't be cocked.

JamesK is right. When re-assembling the slide, you must pull the hammer back manually past the full cock position in order for the slide to go on all the way.

I had the slide off my hi standard (HD military) 22 for cleaning. I let the hammer go forward, now i can't get it back down to re-install the slide. Don´t know what to do

Thanks
