a friend of mine just became the proud owner of a high standard heavy duty military edition 22lr pistol. it looks very old, but mechanicaly sound.

aside from the external hammer, what is the diferencebetween this pistol and the regular hih standards?

thanks

adam

What do you mean "regular hi standards?"

The HD Military (and earlier) High Standards were mechanically different from all later models. There were several groups of High Standard pistols on about three different basic designs after WW II.

All any of them have in common is that they are .22 auto pistols of the same brand name.

the only other high standards that i have seen do not have the external hammer, and brownells lists the military model as having some parts specific to it. i really dont know too much about these and i am just trying to find some info for a friend.

thanks

The Military Model for which Brownells has parts are the 106 series guns which came out in 1965 and later models of the same type. They have nothing at all in common with the HD Military which was discontinued in 1955 except the brand name.

There are whole books on High Standard guns and I am not an expert, just have seen a tremedous variety of their guns over the years.
