High shooting 30-30

So I bought a new Brass Henry 30-30. It’s the first gun I’ve used with the semi buckhorn. I’ve only put around 25 shots through it. The very first shot was way low and that was with the bead right in the notch. I did some research on the sight picture and without adjusting the rear sight everything is high. All in the Center but just high and it looks like the rear sight is all the way down. Anyway after all the research I’m still not 100% on exactly what the sight picture should look like. I’ll keep practicing but any tips y’all might have would be appreciated. Thanks

At what range? It sounds like you had it right the 1st time when you were hitting low. The 30-30 has a pretty arched trajectory and hitting a bit low at close ranges like 25 yards would be about right at 50 yards and a little low again at 100.

I'd go back to the sight picture you initially used and move the rear sight up as needed.
