High Dollar Admission

I went to a gun show in San Antonio today. It was 80% black plastic guns. It cost my Son and I, including parking, $21 to get in. Never going back. Way to rich for my blood. BTW, the gun prices were about the same as local shops anyway.

Yep, many have noted that the 'local gun show' seems to have changed from a place where you could get a good deal to a place where the overhead is so high there aren't any good deals any more....

Last one I went to was $22 just for me, admission and parking.
Backpage.com seems to be the next best place to look for a deal.

Man that is pricy. We have 3 multi state promoter shows and several local club type show here and they charge $7.00 or $8.00 admission with free parking. Of course they like to run several shows on the same weekend and you get a lot of beef jerky and flea market stuff allowed in to fill table space. Most of the time I walk out with nothing but every once in a while something outstanding is there waiting.

Free parking and $10 admission for the show I go to. Most of the prices are comparable to local shops because it's mostly local shops at the show.

I occasionally find good deals on used guns (can't afford them anyway) but mostly go to stock up on cheap ammo.

Pretty much have given up on gun shows, their prices reflect a lot of pride in their wares. And i can get guns and ammo cheaper from local gun supply. Why would i give $50 over for used when i can get it new?

Good buys still there...

I don't know, at our local western state show this weekend noted a brand new AR15 in digi cam for 550 and a new folding Blugi AK for 500. Seems like a lot of the "so so" AR's are a real bargain right now with all the over buying that took place last year...But having said that these buys were from private sellers that were walking around with signs on the guns not on the dealer tables where $750 - 1000 was more common for a name AR, not Colts which still fetch way north of $1000 base price. Even 1970 vintage triangle forearm AR rifles, of which I would like to find one for a good price cause that’s what I trained on in the 70's before going overseas. Seems like handguns of all descriptions are sky high right now. Is there something I need to know?

At our shows WA WAC, membership is $45 per year and parking is free, (its on a large county fair grounds). Only members can buy and sell guns and the fee includes a background check from the local PD. I have been a member for over 30 years and the club is over 70 years old. It is also a large player at the table in the state capital and watch dog for the 2nd. When the dems get frisky...

Admission prices have gone up 20% in my area too. Interestingly, most of the gun shows in my area consist of the same dealers trying to sell the same firearms at the same exorbitant prices and refuse to haggle. This applies to the vast majority of the tables. I rarely see folks leaving the show with firearms. Occasionally, out of town dealers or individuals committed to selling do attend and make a show worthwhile; however, this is rare.

On a positive note, we have several discount ammo and reloading supply dealers to make these shows attendable.
I have a close friend who used to work gun shows in the DFW area. His philosophy: There is a reason they call them shows.
