I'm in the market for a revolver but hate the thought of having only 5 or 6 rounds. I also dont want a .22 cal. Any suggestions on a good 7+ capacity revlover for carry? Please give me the name, capacity, and caliber. Thanks in advance. You all ROC!!! :o

S&W 627. 8 Shots of 357 in a nice package.

There is also a Model 327 lightweight snubby 8 shot 357.

Both are performance center guns so they are a little steep but nice.

I've got a Taurus 608. I looked for quite awhile trying to find one with what I wanted and lucked out on gunbroker or somewhere...

Mine has a 3 inch barrel with fixed sights. It's an 8 shot .357. It should be the perfect carry gun for me but after numerous attempts, it's just too heavy and the cylinder to large to conceal well enough for me.

Some of the new 7 shot .357 S&W based on the L frame would be a better choice than the .357 N frames out there for carry.

S&W 619/620/686+ All seven shot 357's. Less than the performance center 8 shooters.

Then there's the Taurus 608(8 shooter) and 66(7 shooter), which will all be quite a bit less than the Smiths.

I've seen no eight shot speedloaders but have seen plenty of sevens.

The two guys I know who use the 8 shot Smiths use Ranch Products 8 round moon clips. I guess the P.C. sets them up that way (how thoughtful:D ).

Good Point!!!

Good point Rjay.
The answer is, I don't plan to miss, however shooting at an adversary is not like shooting at a target. There is no bullseye. Hitting what you aim for does not promise your advasary will be stopped.

I have a Taurus 617, 7-shot, stainless, 2 in., .357 mag. It's a good, reliable weapon, especially for field carry. It's considered a medium frame revolver and tends toward the heavy side, a quality I think is needed for the .357 in a short barrel weapon. I like it a lot more now that I put "ribber" grips on it in place of the ones that came with it.

+1 to what majic said. if you want high capacity, get an auto. glock 17 has 17 shots. add one in the chamber and a +2 mag extender and youre up to 20. get a 33 round glock 18 mag, one in the chamber and a +2 and youve got 36 rounds to scare your adversary with. you want to throw lots of lead, get that. if you really want a wheel gun, get trained, so you know you can hit when it counts.

Taurus 617

I tried a couple of this type rev, last one the 617.Grips did not matter, the gun felt like I was holding a off balanced club.Went back to a K or J frame

As mentioned above S&W model 627 is an 8shot .357mag, Taurus also makes 8shot .357mag revolver M608, later is more affordable. ;)

Bought the Taurus 608 today. Great recomendation!!!

So, fill us in...barrel length, finish, sights, etc? I really think it's the best revolver Taurus makes, even though it's a little large (for me) to carry. I probably just need a better holster/belt combo to make it work...

I don’t think it’s any better than Raging bull…but RB isn’t available in .357mag and it’s only 6 shot in (.41.& .44mag) I love mine....anyways you did good :)

Enjoying my Taurus M608SS4

I feed it a healthy diet of 38spl+P instead of full house .357mag loads.
(as most shooters do)

Its an N framed gun and has good adjustable sights.

I put hogue grips on it and had a trigger job done. I also had it machined for moon clips. ($200 in gunsmith work, but, well worth it IMHO)

Its not the same $400 gun I got at Sportsman's Warehouse...Its now both how i wanted it as well as where I want it.

The moon clip conversion is really slick...
