High cap 10mm 1911

Okay, I got a wild hair up my rear today and thought "if a Para 16 .40 can hold 16 .40, why can't it do 16 10mm?"

Here is my idea: Take a Dan wesson 10mm and a high-cap para frame and mate them together. Posibly use a ramped barrel for better feeding. Mabey a compensator.

My questions:Can it be done? Has it been done? Will the parts mesh? Will the para frame stand up to 10mm? Did God ever intend for man to have a high capacity 10mm 1911?
 
Easier - rechamber the Para barrel and put a square firing pin stop and maybe heavier weight hammer spring in.
 
How hard would it be to rechamber the para? Could i use the same mags? I did my homework and found that the 10mm is only 3.17 mm longer OAL than the .40. That dosen't sound like much but...
 
My understanding is you only have to ream the chamber deeper and dedo the springs. The mags are supposed to work. I sent a p-16 to a gunsmith to have this done 2 years ago.... never got it back :mad:

If I ever do I may have first hand knowledge. Also if you have the bucks there is always the STI Edge/Eagle. Nice guns with mags up to 20 rounds. I believe SV can do one also but I have not seen one.
 
I've done a lot of 10mm conversions on the Para p-16's. A heavier recoil spring, square bottom firing pin plate I do recommend a slight radius on the firing pin plate, some tuning on the extractor may be needed so you can get the correct break over and maybe in some extreme cases a heavier main spring. You can use the Para barrel have it chambered and stamped 10mm or fit an aftermarket 10mm barrel in the gun and shoot both calibers 40 and 10mm.
If you are hand loading ammo be sure and keep an eye on the OAL and use slow burning powder it works better in the 10.
