can anyone help me? a few years back i saw a kit that lets you make this framed mirror and if you put a magnet in the right place it swings open for a closet big enough to fit for 6 SG or rifles....would anyone know where i can order the design for that? or something similar?

closet

I don't know about that, but I did recently see what looked like a decent in-wall safe that could hold 5 long guns. I think it was about $500. That would seem like a pretty good way to go for the type of storage you're talking about.

a good friend of mine built a false ceiling in a small hallway just outside his bedroom door to hide guns in.... you couldn't have found any guns in his house if you tried.. just the cheapy he left in an obvious hiding place..... i think there was at least a dozen long guns in that ceiling!

LIFE IS SHORT................

orangeTJ---that is good, but what i saw looked like a regular 3 by 5 foot mirror , then if you know exactly were to put a maganet, it opens to reveil the storage space.

If I am reading this correctly, and you need a magnet to open it, it sounds like there are a few too many steps that need to be taken to get to my guns in a life/death situation. What happens if you can't find the magnet at 3 am when someone is breaking in to your house and going after your kids, (if you have them) for whatever reason. Thats assuming that all of your guns are in the wall. If you keep a pistol in the nightstand like I do and can defend youself with it until you can get to the other guns, then it sounds like a cool little hiding place. Neat conversation piece too.

Hangfire, I don't think he would leave a gun he was going to use for self defense in a locked container.

I have a gunsafe and keep all my guns locked up. At night, before I retire to bed, I take one out and put it in the nightstand next to my bed. In the morning, I get up, and lock it back in the safe.

My problem is that I always fear people breaking into my house and stealing my guns. Guns are guns, but I have alot of my dads and grandfathers guns that I would consider irreplaceable. I would rather have a "secret" hiding space than a safe. Safes can be compromised, hiding places are, if done correctly, impossible to find. I would feel much more secure with a hiding space than my safe.
