I've decided on the Hi-Viz sight, but not sure which. The SW3002 says it fits "any" S&W revolver with pinned sight blade. I'm confused because other models of Hi Viz blades specify which S&W revolver pinned slot they will fit. Also, I'd like to know if I can retain the original rear sight. The Hi viz comes in .208 and a higher one. I can live with slightly high, but not low impact, so guessing the shorter one would be the best choice. (adjustable rear) Once I get this figured out, widening the rear notch a bit should make this about ideal for these old eyes.
S&W sells a different brand of FO sight blade, but they both are fitted the same they say, which is by drilling the new blade through the ramp holes, using a number 54 bit. I question whether I can do a neat enough job of drilling the new blade through the ramp pin holes without hogging out the holes, using a hand drill. Anybody have experience with this project? It sounds too simple.
