A few weeks ago I chanced upon an unfired/Ducks Unlimited Marlin in the cartridge I'd been looking for quite a long time.

I bought it exclusively for cast bullets because the DU's have 1:20/6-groove/Ballard rifling (vice microgroove).

Running both Low and High-pressure regimes I've settled on two 115gr bullets SAECO's #322 and Accurate's gas-checked 31-115CG respectivley -- both cast with Lyman #2 and sized/lubed 0.313"/50-50 Beeswax/ALOX.

Both are absolutely dependable 1.5 moa loads past 100yds (the 0.5 part being me on iron sights these days). It's the High-Pressure load that surprised me.

--- STD_HIGH PRESSURE #1 ---
32-20WCF MARLIN 1894-CL 113g actual Ba=1.12 Sized: 0.313”/Lym450/50-50
ACC 31-115CG-LFP(#2)/ IMR4759 /10.4gr /OAL: 1.642”
QL21"= 26,270psi/1,630fps(1,650 actual)/CCI#41(milMag REQ'd for ignition)*

---STD HIGH PRESSURE #2 ---
32-20WCF MARLIN 1894-CL 113g actual Ba=1.085 Sized: 0.313”/Lym450/50-50
ACC 31-115CG(#2)/LIL`GUN/11.5gr/OAL: 1.642”
QL21"= 23,921psi/1,899fps(1,900 actual)/ FedSmPstl **

* Any lesser load of 4759 and/or standard primer results in HUGE velocity variations.
** Lil'Gun displays a well-known/significant rise in burn rate at less-than-full loads -- hence the faster Ba to match results.

Anyone else using either powder for these kind of M1 Carbine ballistics?

I use 4227 in my 32 20. little guns scares the crap out of me. not what you asked for but it also served me well in a 30 carbine. it long gone lol. who knew you couldn't just get another back then. bobn
