Hi-standard "supermatic tournament"

My model 103 has served me well for many years, but I've never been able to get the barrel off. Instructions seem simple, Just to push the button, but when I do nothing gives.:confused:
What is the best way to disassemble this pistol?

My procedure is to whack the button with a mallet, it gets wedged with use.
Then lock the slide back, hold the button back hard, and wiggle the barrel upward.
 
Sounds easy enough. Maybe I didn't whack hard enough. Have to use steel hammer to be hard enough? Rubber would never do it in this case.
 
Varnished oil can glue the barrel to the frame. Push the button in and hit it with a plastic mallet or against a board or bench top
