Hi Point 45 Carbine

Don't laugh.
I bought one because it looked fun and the price was right. Then I got an inexpensive 1x4 scope for it. After three attempts to sight it in I thought the scope was junk. Six inch groups @ 50 yds at best. Surley this thing can shoot better than that! At 100 yds it won't even stay on paper!
Then I watched a few videos on youtube. It ain't the scope. Even though the gun runs flawlessly it is the most inaccurate thing I have ever had the misfortune to own.
I suppose it has it's uses inside 50 yds, but not for me.

Anybody in the market for a cheap gun?

They are pistol caliber 16"carbines.My 995 is .5" at 25 yds. 45acp is a relatively heavy bullet, usually 230 grains, they are not meant for long range shooting.Great guns for the money,Could use higher capacity mags. I have five ten rounders, have become very adept at reloading mags. If the zombies are still coming I switch to 30 round Saiga or 35 round Galil.

Get used to the irons. The trigger is not to great, but even my 12 year old can hit 10 inch swinging steel at 100 yards. He likes it better than the AR.

I also own a Hi-Point .45 and I truly enjoy the rifle. I had accuracy issues as well but found quality ammo solved the issue and made it quite the accurate and dependable weapon with no scope. As a footnote, my wife and I were hitting apples at 50 yds with it using the stock iron sights.

I'd really consider giving it another chance with some quality ammo before selling it Arch308.:D

If you're looking to dispose of your Hi-Point, I'll gladly take it off your hands for free. I'll even pay for shipping.

I have taken the scope off and reinstalled the original sights. I've been shooting my own handloads and feel confident in their quality. One more try with the irons should tell the tale.
One thought, do you think lead bullets would help? As opposed to FMJ.

it seems the hi points are touch and go, rifle and handgun both. seen it go both ways, if its innaccurate, send it back, u might send it to them claiming failing accuracy, they will look at it for sure, probably fix it, for free and probably send u an extra mag to boot

This is the first "review" I have read that was dissatisfied with one of the carbines. I actually am in the market for a small rifle for truck duty and have been thinking about picking one up in .45 simply because it is a caliber match to my 1911 that also serves truck duty.

Is there any follow up to how it shot after replacing the irons? Anyone else hear of ill reviews? If the gun still seemed to be having issues, is Hi-Point pretty good with customer service? Almost everything I have read is that people have problems with there pistols and they never send them back to HP for a check.

Thanks all. Interested to hear more.

I bought one a couple of months ago and put a $129 sightmark red dot/laser on it.
I was actually very impressed with the accuracy of the gun. I would post a pic of the target I shot with it but there is a "bad" word on it. Shame on me.
