Just wanted to pop in and thank you all again for your help and advice. Just found out that there was a random murder in the city where I live, so carrying has become more of a reality. More practice!
 
Leviathan, Just wondering if you received your holster in the mail. Hope things get better in your area so you don't have to practice those carrying purposes on real people. Thanks for informing us on what is going on. :)

Oh, hi Terri!! Yes I did, and you will have a thank you in the mail any day now! As I said, it's looking more and more likely that I will be using it daily. That killing was a doozy; the guy just looped around the bend: killed his cat and then ran outside to kill the first person he saw. When the cops came, he said he knew he did a bad thing, but didn't know what. Hm? At least it's a neighborhood I wouldn't venture into on a bet.

No, not yet. I'm learning all I can on my dad's and brother's guns, and then I will go for what's right for me. Also hoping to see an NRA seminar in this area, but there don't seem to be any (central/northern vermont). Tempted to go to one of Massad Ayoob's, but they're pricey!
 
It sounds like you are on the right track and getting plenty of help. Good luck and in the mean time feel free to ask any questiuons you may have here as well. The members are always all to happy to help where ever they can.
