Hey you PT145 owners...

what holster and ammo are you using. I just got mine this past Saturday. I got a box of S&B 230gr. to start me off. He didn't have any holsters due to it being a new model, so he said.

Congrats on buying the PT145! I just put a PT140 on layaway, but I'm familiar with the PT145.

Because it is new, there will not be many holster available, but I do think the Triple-K Skeleton Holster would work. They are very versitile holsters. Click this link to take a look at it:

As for ammo for the range, what you bought sounds fine. I'm all in favor of using the same weight bullet for personal defense as I use for target shooting. For personal protection, try the Federal 230-grain Hydra-shok JHP or 230-grain Speer Gold Dot JHP. I think most fellers would agree, or at least not argue too much against that. However, since the PT145 is a very lightweight pistol with a short barrel, you my have some fellers tell you to use a lighter bullet, such as the 185-grain Gold Dot JHP or 185-grain Remington Golden Sabre. They will argue that a lighter bullet will cause less felt recoil, which is good, and higher velocity, which helps the bullet mushroom better. I can't argue against that, but I would still prefer the 230-grain stuff.

Good luck!

Congrats on your new PT145!
I haven't had nearly enough time to shoot mine.
50 rds Wolf 230g fmj, 10 rds 185g Corbon +P jhp.

No jams, but several hard primers on the Wolf.
For the next trip to the range, I have 50 each of:
Win. fmj, 230g
Win. jhp, 230g
Rem. fmj, 230g
Speer Gold Dot jhp, 230

I currently have the remaining 10 rounds of Corbon in the gun, but I will probably end up with a carry ammo that is a little more affordable.
I have seen one article recommending a 200g weight in a short barrel gun like the 145.
I'll probably end up carrying something in either 200 or 230.
I don't think I'll settle on a +P round for carry either. I'm not sure that a short barrel really takes advantage of the extra "oomph".

I really like Gold Dots, but I think Federal Hydra Shok 230g are the ammo of choice for most that carry the .45.

I'll report back after next trip to the range.
Be safe, have fun.

Congrats on the new PT 145. I'll let the others on this board advise you on ammo. As to holsters, seems that the little PT145 is a perfect match up with the GLOCK G36. So...try Milt-Sparks or some of the other good name custom holster makers.

Best,

Hi Guy,
Some advice on your PT-145. Holster wise, I have found that everything I have that fits my Glock 26 also fits my PT-145, although things that fit the G36 might work better!!
The trigger does not get better until you reach the 500 round mark. After that, it gets smooth as silk!!!!
I too shoot S&B 230gr hard ball. For defense, I use 230gr Remington Golden Saber, which is the same thing I carry in my G30. Mine doesn't like Winchester Silvertip at all!! Prints all over the page!!!

Most importantly, spare magazines can be had from CDNN!!!

Enjoy!!!

Oh, you asked about holsters too.
I guess I had a senior moment.
(Not going to make a good old man.)

Everything I have tried mine in is by Uncle Mike's.
All of the nylon that fits a Glock 19/26 will fit.

The Uncle Mike's Kydex for the G19 won't fit though.
Felt like it might break if I forced it in.

I love Don Hume's JIT belt slide, costs around $18 delivered when I bought one for a KelTec.
I don't know if the Glock 26 version of this will fit or not, but I am betting that Don Hume will have a PT145 version available soon.
(If they don't already.)

PT145 holsters are discussed this month in one of the gun magazines. It may be Combat Handguns, not sure though. On the cover it says it is a Concealed Carry special issue.

How much does the PT145 weigh fully loaded and is it really a viable pocket gun? Starting to think about picking one up.

I don't know how much it weighs fully loaded, however, I do know it makes a awesome pocket rocket. :)
