Hey, that's not half bad.

I am a terrible marksman. Gotten worse as I got old due to failing eyesight and the "old man shakes" I have developed. So when I put a few together on paper I get very excited.

For a long time I wanted a Winchester 94 with a 26" octagon barrel. But wow were they pricey. Wound up with a new Rossi Model 92 clone in 45 Colt with a 24" octagon barrel. As usual with Brazilian rifles (How many is a Brazilian, anyway?) the wood is a little funky looking but the metal looks nice.

Using basically "cowboy loads" with 250 grain lead bullets I shot this today. Only 25 yards because that's about all I'm good for with iron sights but still pretty good for me. I've decided it qualifies as a one hole group. A little elongated, but all 5 holes are touching.

everyone who get's there hands on my rossi is amazed at how well they shoot. I don't know if they are just accurate guns, or just the fact that they are so light with such a long sight radius, people just shoot them better. even my wife can knock out the bullseye all day with it. my wood is much lighter than yours, and I agree your buttstock is a little odd, but still a pretty gun

the best group I ever shot hangs in my gun cabinet, also shot with the 92, at 50 yards. mines a tree fitty sevin, 38 shoots like a 22LR

Very nice. I've been thinking about picking up a SS Rossi '92 in .357 with the 20" round barrel. I'd look at the 16", but I like the extra capacity of the 20".

Under the same conditions most people will shoot at a surprisingly similar level in my experience.

I wouldn't complain about that group using irons.

I would really like a pistol caliber carbine (either lever or bolt), but all my rifles, except a couple rimfires, wear scopes for a reason.............my old age is creeping up on me, and i like to hit what I'm aiming at ;)

age

Yeah, I hear ya. I used to carry and shoot a Marlin 1894/.357 constantly. Putting a peep on it saved me for about a decade, but at this point, I do not shoot it anywhere near as well, and thus as often, as I used too. It stays in the safe, where I hope bamaboy will warm up to it at some point.

I've thought about a longer tubed lever gun, 24-26", but a simple scope will likely be cheaper. Thinking 2-1/2 power Leupold would be about right.
