I have a chance to buy a Mossy 695 slug gun NIB for $200
1). is this a good price
2). what is the 695 like? Accurate? Dependable? How much time will I lose on the second shot compared to a pump. It being a bolt and all seems like it would be a speed handicap. So far I have not needed a fast 2nd shot, but I like the idea of having it if I need it.
Thanks in advance for any input.

They're durable, effective, and a second shot can be had kinda fast by learning the SMLE drill. They make GREAT slug guns. The big 9 point over the fireplace downstairs was taken with one.

In your shoes, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I'd mount a good quality low power scope, glass bed the action and bbl, get the trigger down to 3 lbs, and test slugs until the most accurate was found. Then I'd go get lots of meat.

I would no doubt buy the 695. My dad has one and he likes it. He has killed quite a few deer with his and I know they are pretty accurate.

too late

I called the guy last night and asked if he would hold it for me until tonight. He said "sure, no problem." I call him tonight to tell him I would take it and he had sold it.
