Hey HS,
Hope you don't mind me posting for you but I was reading your post about the Charles Daly 1911 a I'm planning on picking mine up tomorrow(just ordered it). I was wondering if the CD's you were talking about (sort of melt down job done) were the newer ones with the serial #'s like CD XXXX.

thanks, Cyric13

Cyric, yes the CD # is "supposed" to be the melt down version BUT as one guy has posted today, his Charles Daly has a SHARP slide with a ROUNDED frame. :(
Hope yours is a late model !
Don't forget to come on "down" & brag about it. ;)

Cyric and Gordon, I'm a little baffled about this Charles Daly ser#/dehorn thing. I sometimes wonder if I got a special "doctored" version of the gun. (maybe for a SHOT show?) Everybody who has seen my CD is impressed with the smooth contours and nice feel.

BTW, I have replaced a bunch of parts and now have a very reliable and very accurate 1911A1. I have just a tad over $400 in the gun , so I am tickled with my investment.

I don't want to get a reputation for being a promoter of the CD ... the previous CD that I had was NOT a good 1911A1. My advice to potential buyers is to examine thoroughly before you buy...
