Hey folks, want to read something scary?

Fish,
I've been screaming about this type of behavior for the last 8 years. It seems that everyperson I speak to about this either doesn't care or thinks it's great that the president is "finaly doing somthing"

Most, not all, of the people living in the nation today neither want or deserve the freedoms described and protected by the constitution. They just expect them to be there and take them for granted.

I'm beginning to realy think that we need about 5-10 yrs of a real facist dictatorship in this country to show them what they have to loose.

Maybe then they would be more interested in the freedoms granted to them by their creator.
I'm just fed up with the apethy I see every damned day, I don't know what to do next.

we're complacent, (we as in the American people. We've had over two hundred years of freedom. We haven't been invaded since 1812. The American people have never really been under the iron boot. So, we just go from day to day, assuming that tyranny and oppression only happen in eastern europe, asia, and africa. The average american thinks "I'm in america! My freedoms are safe because of the constitution, and the american people would never stand for tyranny or opression. So, when our rights are slowly eroded away, we pay no notice. We simply assume everything's the same as its always been. The fact is, in the two hundred something years since America was founded, the hearts of men have not changed. There is still a craving for power, and corruption in government. And in that lies the ground work for tyranny and oppression.

I have to wonder if things will ever get better. They only seem to get worse. I'm taking Criminal Justice in college. Perhaps I'll stay in the military after college. I don't know about a career in civilian law enforcement these days.

It seems that I read somewhere that an executive order was signed which allowed the president to suspend the constitution in times of national emergency. Scared the beans out of me.

Dont you know that he is cooking up just such an emergency!!!

You have to be there when it's all over. Otherwise you can't say "I told you so."

Better days to be,

A great quote on apathy and complacency and where they lead:

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: "From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage."
-- Alexander Fraser Tytler (later Lord Alexander Fraser Woodhouslee), in "The Decline and Fall of the Athenian Republic," published 1776.

Gun Control: The proposition that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her own panty hose, is more acceptable than allowing that same woman to defend herself with a firearm.
