Herters sold two types of rifles. One they called a J9 which was basically a commercial Mauser action. The other (more expensive) was designated the U9. It was made by B.S.A. in England. Therefore, it depends on which you have.

HS and 9-44 indicates a military replacement barrel; those markings would not have been on a commercial rifle. So at some point, the rifle was rebarrelled by a gunsmith using a surplus GI barrel. That might affect value depending mainly on how well the rifle shoots. It wouldn't affect disassembly.

It doesn't matter if you don't know what the BSA action looks like, the J9 was a slightly modified Mauser 98; if it's not a 98 it's a BSA/U9. Many old assembly-disassembly books have exploded parts diagrams for both types.
 
The U9/BSA rifle's bolt shroud has flat/angular surfaces, while the J9/Mauser's has rounded surfaces - and IIRC, the BSA for Herter's also has BSA's integral scope mount dovetails in both front/rear receiver rings, somewhat similar to a Ruger 77.
