i'm in the process of buying one in .22lr, single action, 5 in bbl. well used for $80. anyone have any knowledge about it? i figue for the price just so long as it fires it's worth it. any opinions?

thanks

It was probably made in Germany. I am kicking myself right now cecause I can't recall the name but there was a German gun company that supplied the Herter SA revolvers. I think they were actually pretty good quality. For $80 you should have fun with it.

Most of Herter's SA guns were made by Sauer. They were pretty fair guns, and the price is right, but remember that Herter's is long gone and no one has parts or support for the gun.

I think they were made by JP Sauer, and Gunpartscorp used to have parts for them. They were pretty solid revolvers. I had one in .357.

I DO NOT BELIEVE J.P. SAUER&SOHN EVER MADE ANY OF THE HERTER

22 revolvers. J.P. Sauer&Sohn did make the Herter POWERMAG sixguns in 357MAG, 401POWERMAG, and 44MAG.
I believe the Herter 22 revolvers were made by Rhom---or was it Rohm---which was part of the group who ended up being the WEIRAUCH company now.
THE HERTER 22 REVOLVERS WERE NO WHERE NEAR THE QUALITY OF THEIR CENTERFIRE REVOLVERS!!!
