Heritage RR Birdshead 3 3/4 barrel

Any one give me any information on this pistol. Dealer has one and calls my name every time I walk in.
Trouble is I heard lot of complaints about their little 22 SA pistol . Iam concerned about quality at $465 I don't want a clunker
 
Try not to base your decision on complaints. I hear a lot more positive than negative and a lot of the negative's come from the Ruger/S&W people who have not owned a RR.
Go to Utube and search Heritage Rough Rider.
I have a 6.5" with a story.
 
It must be a big bore at that price.

I have three .22 Rough Riders, to include a Bird's Head. I have nothing bad to say about any of them. They are all great little little revolvers and are a lot of fun.

The ones on the left are my Rough Rider's.

As said it must be a centerfire for that price. In a rimfire they are +- $200 guns.
No complaints about the reliability of my 6 1/2" 22/22Mag rimfire Rough Rider.
 
I gotta agree. It best be a centerfire for that price. I paid about $200.00 for my 22 Rough Rider.

No complaints at all about the gun though.
 
Had a 3 3/4" HRR for awhile. Not accurate and/or hard to shoot accurately would best describe it. As for the HRR .22's in general......... Fine when they were $100-$125, may even stretch to $175 for a steel frame one. $200 is a big stretch for me. Anything more = hell no.

While we all assume the dealer wasn't askin that kinda change for a lowly .22 model in today's climate I wouldn't be all that surprised. If indeed that is his price on a Heritage .22 he needs popped in the mouth.
 
I have a 6.5" Heritage RR in .22LR with the 22mag cylinder, cost me about $200, and worth it as a range toy.

I looked at Heritage RRs in .22 with the birdshead grip, going rate on gunbroker in the last month or so was $300. too steep for me, but I keep thinking about it.

I keep thinking about it because I have a Ruger Vaquero (3.75" birdshead) in .45Colt that set me back a whopping $617. I am learning to hip shoot, using the HRR in .22 and then going for carryover to the birdshead .45. Someday I might spend $300 on the HRR .22 birdhead, but not yet.

No way can I see paying $465 for the Heritage when the Ruger vaquero (with access to 20k psi Tier II loads) is only $152 more.

What about the Ubertis and Cimarrons? That 425-525 pricepoint is pretty competitive for SAA clones, at least on gunbroker. I know I saw one or the other (Uberti/ or Cimarron) @3.75" bbl, .45 Colt, birdhead grip, SAA clone in my LGS for $525 in the last couple months. Everytime I went to that store they let me hold that gun, but for the few sheckels more I got the Ruger and the LGS do the transfer on it.

Do read up on the bump some birdheads have at the top of the back strap. Something about the hammer spur and that web of skin between your thumb and trigger finger v- sharper felt recoil. I think some people can use either one...
 
My LGS has a new Uberti birdshead grip 45 with four inch barrel for $460.00 that's been tempting me for awhile.
My Remington 1875 Outlaw 45 needs some company! lol

I have a Heritage rough rider 22 I bought for around $175.00
I don't think I would consider one of their 45's for that price range
 
I also have the HARR w/ birdshead. It's cute as a button and fits my small hand perfectly. But my particular specimen has a serious accuracy problem. I had to file about an eighth inch off the front sight and bend it to the left to get in the general area of the target. But that's not the issue! From a sandbag, it will only group about 8" at 25 feet. At 25 yards, only about half the shots hit the paper. At 100 yds, it kicks up dirt a dozen feet to the left OR right of the target.
I've tried standard velocity, high, and hyper vel ammo. No appreciable difference.
Yeah, it's not supposed to be a target revolver but my single-six and bearcat don't seem to know that.
Granted, your mileage may vary but I was hoping for more reasonable accuracy.
Maybe I just got a lemon. It happens.
 
I don't know about the 22 version but my wife got a 32 H&R version of the Heritage RR Birdshead.

It's accurate and a heck of a lot of fun.


Since I load for everything, and cast bullets for all my pistols/revolvers I found the 32 shoots the same bullet I use in my 30 Cal Carbine and Russian Nagent Revolver.

Talk to me about the .32H&R. I've been thinkin about picking one up for a truck gun since I already reload and like the cartridge.

Wish they made em with adjustable sights. If I buy one I might tinker with some home-smithin that I don't want to try with my Ruger.
