Heritage Rough Rider .22 pistol

I am interested in comments on the quality of the Heritage Arms Rough Rider .22 revolvers, particularly as compared to the Ruger Single Six revolvers.

I have one and Love it, but it does not compare to the single six.

The action is much rougher, does smooth up a bunch with use, mine had a lot of Fail to fires early on when the action was real rough but has had none lately.

Mine is much more accurate with the 22 LR than with the 22 mag cylinder, the single sixes seem to be extremely accurate with both cylinders.

They probly won't hold up and last anywhere near as long as the SS's but for a third of the price you're getting a great plinker. IMO

I've put 2000+ plus rounds through mine in the last couple years - 22 LR only. I wish I had spent ten more dollars and got the 22 mag cylinder.

Seems pretty accurate to me, I've put several rounds almost in the same hole occasionally at 7-12 yards. Maybe that was just luck!

No failures to fire except some a few bad rounds.

The finish seemed to start wearing off awful fast - so what?

Sometimes it doesn't seem to index right as there is some lead fragments from the cylinder/barrel gap once in a while.

The hammer block is a POS IMO (it's just CYA for Heritage)

A heck of a lot of shooting for about $110.

That said, someday I want to get a Ruger Single Six. But the centerfires have had a higher priority.

I had one for a short while. It was not all that accurate for me, and I tried it from a bench at various distances. I just got a S&W Model 35, which is about a hundred times more accurate, and of course more expensive too. However, the 'Rider did feel nice, and seemed to be of OK quality, had great balance and no recoil even with 22WMRs. At $100 I can recommend it for plinking. I will note that I have read reports of good accuracy from them on the web.
