Heritage 24 is GOOD!

this is number 130 of the first 150. It would be kind of a shame to lock this one up in a vault as it does shoot. Feels kind of funny with those service grips but hangs on target like an anchor. After a few hundred rounds, it is as smooth as anything out of Springfield. This was done this morning "NRA Stance"

Please say it doesn't have a keyhole over the cylinder release. That would just look so wrong. :(

Still haven't made up my mind over the case-coloured frames, either. What was wrong with blue? Nice to see the tapered bbl again, though, and I love the big gold bead up front.

I got to shoot the 45 lonc colt version

last year at a shoot in doylestown pa. the action was real smooth and the gun was a real joy to shoot accurate as all get out too. Just a bit high priced for me at the time. I did like it through. the color case leeos kinda good to me on a smith. I would like to someday(when I can afford to buy it) find one of the model 10's they did that way. I like model 10's

I believe the model 10s were for Sports south and they only made a hundred or so of them They were the first to get the Doug Turnbull color case treatment. There is no key lock on this one. to tell the truth, it was a bit rough out of the box but a couple of hundred rounds settled the parts in and it smoothed itself out. Expensive though it is, this may be the cheapest way to get the Turnbull color case treatment on something. You can also get a heritage 24 or .45/25 in straight blue and I wouldn't be surprised if that version isn't more popular I take care of this one. No harsh chemicals and I use a synthetic holster when I carry it around. I also put paste wax on the frame for storage. You might look at lewhorton.com for a full run-down on this heritage series.
The have some K-22 versions and some varieties of Ed McGivern commerative k frame 38s as well as some .44 magnums.

The guns have the frame mounted firing pin and MIM parts all of which hasn't caused me much worry as I have a MIM 617 with several thousand rounds through it and no problems The McGivern Bead is something I am generaly able to ignore. Other people either pry them out or black them over. I can't say that it does much for my style of shooting but it is kind of a neat touch.

The grips are from Altamount but I would bet they get them from somebody else. They are mineral streaked high grade walnut and way nicer than anything else doen by a/mount.

$800-1,000

was what Trunbull quoted me to re-blue a S&W N frame,Mec. You're right, $850 for a Turnbull finished M24 Heritage IS a bargin....dewey

CDNN is advertising the same revolver for $750 in their latest catalog. Also shows versions in .45 Colt; .22; and .44 Mag. Nice revolver and nice shooting Mike.

Hmmm! they started out at $1100 I got this one early for just over $1,000. I've been hearing prices down around $850 and now the amount you mention. It's acting a lot like my 401K This makes me even more sure that using it for a shooter is the RIGHT THING TO DO.

I read recently that Lew Horton dumped their entire inventory. CDNN is selling them off at reduced (but still somewhat high) prices. Since they are not on the "approved" list in Ca, it's not an issue for me even though I would really like one. Can't help but think of Elmer Keith handloading for one of those.
