http://www.reloadbench.com/gloss/impact.html not sure if i posted this right. but this one link says why we will never lose our guns. the economic impact alone would stop the government from completly taking our guns. not saying they wont regulate it to pretty much hunting and self defense. but even then if they try to tax it so much we cant hardly afford to enjoy our past time there would be a big drop in revenue to the government purses

dont think this is a driveby but if so im sorry

You clearly don't understand.

Economics was never their goal. Neither was guns, which is the unfortunate part. They are merely secondary consequences.

A declining economy actually works to the current admin's benefit..so why would making it decline this way be bad for them?

Guns will never be completely taken away because wayward rulers and big business will always need the armed man to keep them safe.

If you look at everything proposed, you will see 2 things:
1) it does not reduce private armies of big business
2) it does not reduce public armies of political rulers

Ask the question others are asking. Why the department of Homeland security is in possession of over a billion rounds of ammunition. Why they purchased 750,000,000 million rounds of ammunition just before the election?

If we use just the latest purchase numbers and ignore the 400,000,000 they already purchased less than a year before.

That is roughly 2 and half rounds of ammunition for every person in the United States including babies and people in nursing homes. If you factor in every member of the NRA that adds up to roughly 190 rounds of ammunition.

for the roughly 160 thousand armed agents of the DHS that adds up to about 4,700 rounds of ammunition. Now certianly all of us have to agree that not all of those agents are required to put down range 4,700 rounds of ammunition a year. Probably more as less than a year before the last purchase 400,000,000 rounds of ammunition were purchased.

Call me a conspiracy theorist if you want, but I would say anyone can reasonably admit that regardless whether or not they are planning for civil disobience (i.e. refusal to comply with the law of the land)..., they are certianly prepared for it.

As a very sad NY resident, I disagree. Kimber & Remington are both located here. Thousands of jobs. It still happened, and was approved by a Republican run senate.

The economic impact? Look at the economy. No one is trying to fix it.

Study your facts. Australia and the UK did seize weapons. Even ones that weren't semi auto and enacted ridiculous laws. Weapons and ammo must be locked up and stored separately etc. . . So don't think that they won't try and do something. I'm not saying that they will, but if we don't start voting on this issue, the people that we have elected will be the people trying to take our guns. I am by no means a conspiracy theorist, but once the 2A gets watered down, the First Amendment won't be far behind. Gun control is about the Govt fearing the law abiding citizen. We elected them and if we have no means to defend ourselve from Govt then they can enact whatever laws they see fit!

That & the 150,000,000 FEMA coffins that are stacked up around the country waiting for deployment...
Being registered as a Republican around here may just wind up being a liability..

Don't believe that for a second. At one point, the anti plan of attack was / is to sue the gun makers out of existence. They have also attempted to sue gun dealers out of business.

They have also attempted to put assorted taxes on ammo and guns raising the prices so high that only a few could afford them in turn driving down sales. If makers can not sell their products, they cease business.

If I'm not mistaken, Mr Obama voted for a 500% tax on guns and ammo in Illinois.

The economy isn't broke for the ones raking in all the income right now. We're right where they want us, in debt and able to be manipulated. All the while telling us how things are improving. Anyone here see your cost of living improving?

I was just curious, what will firearm manufacturers based in NY do? Is there actual talk of moving to a different state?

If I were a firearm manufacturer, . . . we would be packing boxes, . . . trailers, . . . trucks, . . . even today, right now.

I have sometimes in my past, overstayed my welcome here and there, . . . but as soon as I got the "hint", . . . I was gone.

I'd do the same here, . . . and never look back.

May God bless,
Dwight

"I was just curious, what will firearm manufacturers based in NY do? Is there actual talk of moving to a different state?"

When I was watching the debate when Illinois gun grabbers were trying to pass some crap a few weeks ago a representative of the Illinois firearm manufacturer association said the laws would force many of the Illinois based firearm companies to move elsewhere .. So maybe that is what will happen there?

And, Colt did just that - they opened up a small plant in Osceola county, Florida.

They did state before moving here that jobs would be many, not the case. Very few jobs if any added to our dismal job market.

Ok, you're a conspiracy theorist.

Now certianly all of us have to agree that not all of those agents are required to put down range 4,700 rounds of ammunition a year. Probably more as less than a year before the last purchase 400,000,000 rounds of ammunition were purchased.

A few things you aren't factoring in.

1) How many rounds do you think a new recruit goes through during training? It would likely be, at least, around the "yearly" number of 4700 rounds.
2) Some agents are likely required to do intensive training. Federal Air Marshals are one I can think of. Sure, not all agents are going to shoot that much, but many will.
3) 4700 rounds sounds like a lot, but it's less than 100 rounds per week. (4700/52=90.4). I shoot twice that a week, typically. I know trained officers usually shoot less than civilians, but 2 boxes of ammo a week just isn't that much in my eyes.
4) This whole thing came from the language of a contract. If you're familiar with contracts (I'm not, but my wife deals with them all the time and explained this to me, and also read, and pointed things out in the actual contract) that DHS did not buy 750,000,000 rounds of ammo. The contract stipulates that DHS might buy up to that much, but written into the contract it says that the minimum order is 1,000 rounds. In other words, DHS can buy anywhere from 1000 to 750,000,000 rounds. This is very common in contracts. You set your contract to be FAR above what you think you need, and stipulate as low a minimum number as possible, that way you basically have a direct line on ammo (or anything for that matter) if you need it. Not only that, the contract is for FLETC which is a training facility. In one of the amendments, it specifically says the ammo is for training purposes.

In the end, I'm weary of conspiracy theories in general, and about 95% of the drivel that gets released by infowars. Alex Jones is a nut case and isn't helping the cause. When he's wrong about something (again, 95% of the time) he never talks about how he was wrong, but when he gets something right, or scoops the MSM on something, he flashes it around and shows how right he is about things.

Is it possible that the government is preparing for civil disobedience? Yeah, anything is possible. Is it likely? I seriously doubt it. Without solid evidence, there's no way to know. A standard contract is not evidence.

+1 Gaerek

Pretty sure the FEMA coffin thing has been debunked as well. The pictures I saw that were purported to be coffins were actually inexpensive plastic vaults used by many because most cemeteries now require a vault. We used to be in the funeral business, so I know something about it.

If Alex Jones were actually uncovering all these conspiracies don't you think "they" would have arranged for him to have an "accident" by now?

How about we talk about the guns and laws and skip the tin-foil hat theories? You all know the mods don't let stuff like this fly too far.

Bah come to Nevada, no corporate income tax here! You'll be in good company with Armscor. :D

As to the OP, unfortunately there are some issues with the application of the economic analysis. Even if the 1%(rounding since it doesn't give a real number) were all suddenly unemployed, 1% isn't a big enough change to really hurt the national economy. Many of the people employed are skilled laborers which would be able to find new work relatively quickly, diminishing the over all impact. Not all of the unskilled laborers would stay unemployed for a significant duration. All in all the overall impact would be marginal at best.
