Here's the weird question of the week.

I'm interested in modifying a lever action rifle to, you better sit down for this, .45 Auto Rim.
I shoot a S&W 625 and like it a lot. I would like to carry one kind of ammo on those events where I have to hoof across 40 miles of desert and fend off bandits and vultures and indian war parties and smugglers and vampires and ... Well you get the idea. The camera crew is never willing to help out the hero you know... It's not in the script.

Back to the point. It seems like I could start with a Rossi 92SRC in .45 LC and have the barrel modified. The question is would the round be too short to cycle properly?

Well, at a minimum, you would have to have work done on the carrier and cartridge stop, plus opening the bolt face up a bit. I think it could be done. Any barrel mod should be just opening the barrel face out a bit for the bigger rim.

Is the receiver big enough without opening it up inside? That would be a problem, but should be easy to check.

Don't feel like the lone ranger in the wierd dept. - I am loking into re-chambering a lever action to 50 AE. The 50 has a casehead very close to a 44mag. Re-barrel, larger mag tube, a little work on the case lifter......theoretically !!! Gary reeder, who did the 50 Blackhawk wasn't interested - anyone know a good lever 'smith ?
