Here we go again - ANOTHER shooting......

I am sure this will just be adding fuel to the fire for gun control, especially since it happened in "gun friendly" Texas:

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/201...vilian-killed-in-gunbattle-near-texas-am?lite

A police constable and a civilian were killed when a gunman opened fire Monday near the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station. The gunman, who was injured in a gunbattle with police, later died as well, police said.

Being near a University, as opposed to some other, less desirable, location i am sure will play large in the headlines. Be prepared in your discussions with antis, this isn't going to let up before the election and may become one of the linch pins in this election

sorry just my pointless take...just like the copycat syndrome which happens..........

I'm hoping these will trail off eventually....I remember the school shootings before columbine: many of them happened before CO and finally it was getting more attention that day april 1999. These guys many times like this texas A&M shooting are premeditated decisions to "go out this way". people should get the point here sooner than later that this "isn't the way" to 'go out'

One of the issues I see with a situation like this is that people will want to link this to schools and gun control. Granted, in this instance the incident was on the edge of campus, but in most places everything is technically near a school of some sort. Even more so in a college town, where the college takes up a significant portion of the towns area. Everyone in town, related to the school or not, lives "near" it.

As much as the anti gunner would want to declare this another "mass shooting". Fox is reporting that it was because of an eviction order gone wrong. Someone had been dispatched to a house to evict the tenant and the tenant in question went berserk.

This is not another loon who only wanted to kill as much innocent people as possible, this actually had a motive and a fuse to ignite it.

Nevertheless, this incident is really pushing gun rights towards the edge of the platform again.

And RIP to the officer and the innocent civilian who got caught up in this madness:mad:

This was an irate evictee, This happens alot more than people think and happens everywhere not just Texas where thankfully we blame the criminal for his actions, not the other way around. Maybe its stretching it alittle but im realy starting to question why it seems that gun crime (or perhaps just its media coverage) always hits the roof right around election time.

The news outlets are scouring their local affiliates for *any* gun-related local story that they can go national with. This had nothing to do with Texas A&M, which is pretty much a ghost town in early August, but that's how they spin it to make it more salacious.

Not to put off what he did, what he did was wrong.

The state of the country is as such; allot of people do not take into the account that the shooter may have been in dire straights. He may have lost his job to a company that moved over seas. Not only lazy, worthless drug addicts get there homes foreclosed on. Some are hard working people who have worked all there life to have what they have, lost to the large cooperations greed. Some people just get sick and cant work. One must try to understand the frame of mind people get in, when they have no where left to turn and all resources have been depleted.
This wasn't a plot to terrorize the community more than likely a snap of the human psyche. It may be good advise that instead of the sheriff evicting people that they stand at the street and let the banker go to the door and do their own dirty work.

He didn't see the SHERIFF as a public servant; but as an OFFICER of the BANK.

and i know what ya mite be thinking...no i own three homes outright and worked for everything i own i just wish the news reported the news not some twisted opinion thats our jobs.

scott, I read your 1st line, i am not saying you condone this but:

none of what you just stated justifies even a negligible smidgen of what he did. He had no right to take the lives of others. To throw out another speculation though:
for all we know he wasn't planning on shooting but was in a huff. well shots fired he does deed, next thing you know he knows his life is over and terminates at least one more. What he did was wrong but he obviously snapped in some form or another I guess
