First of all I'm sorry if this is a double post,i looked for the post I did yesterday an can't find it,so I'm re'doing.I noticed that when I shoot several rounds one behind the other the poi moves.Too the left about 2 in. and up and in.and a half.Checking the barrel it is really hot,can it be that it is moving that much, and I should slow down between rounds.Does anyone else have this problem. My henry is a 45 colt an shooting 250 gr.@ 1,400 fps.

Rifles with two-piece stocks and barrel bands tend to "move around" more than the usual bolt-action, as the barrel heats up. Changes in the pressures between the barrel and the stock. Steel expands more than wood, with heating. Also, the clamping of the mag tube to the barrel has the barrel heating while the mag tube doesn't--another difference in pressure.

my 44/40 Cimmaron "Henry" model of 1860 rifle (just so we know we are talking the same gun) heats up with rapid fire to the point that it is not fun to hold the barrel with the off hand. I usually have to bring a glove if I feel I am going to bang away with the gun. I have not notice a change in POI when doing this though.

The first time someone at Henry co. went out to test the new rifle, the same heating problem surely happened. Yet they went on ahead and left it like it was and the government purchased them. Seems in wartime the war dept. is in a buying mood. In peacetime they are hard to please...
