I bought a Henry Big Boy .45C to hang on the wall (wife won't allow that but that's another story) but planned to shoot it some day. Well, it's just too long for me. I am only 5' 7" and my arm is just not long enough to hold it and sight it. Suggestions? I also got a Golden Boy .22 youth so I can shoot it!!

I guess I don't get it.
I'm 5'7" too, and even my mosin 91/30 is still pretty easy to hold, and that thing stands about at my shoulders.

Maybe just slide your forehand toward you with that elbow pointing almost straight down?

No, he is saying the LOP is too long. It has nothing to do with how long the forearm is.

OP - the only thing that you can do is take it to a gunsmith and have him shorten the buttstock or return the gun.

The suggestion wasn't that the forearm was too long, it was to move the hand back on the forearm to hold the gun. I too am 5"7" and I've never owned a gun that was too long for me. Unless the OP has very, very short arms, he shouldn't have a problem holding this gun to shoot it. It's possible that his shooting form isn't correct and he's holding the gun in an awkward manner. I shoot competition rifle, and shotgun and the LOP on most guns will easily fit a person of his (or my) stature. Most guns require fitting to lengthen LOP on adult men when the LOP isn't correct.

I hardly ever put my off hand way out on the fore-arm like other shooters do. Most often it is at the guns balance point, or close to it.

On my bolt-action guns, I usually hold my palm up flat and rest the floor-plate on it, with my elbow down on my belly.

You have to have a prominent belly in order to to make this work, so start chowing down today. Beer helps.

It sounds like the LOP (length of pull) is too long. Bring it to a gunsmith, have the stock chopped to your desired length and have a brass or steel butt plate fitted. Really shouldn't cost too much as its a relatively simple procedure. If your handy you could do it yourself. Personally I prefer slightly shorter stocks than most, I find they are much quicker to shoulder and just overall more comfortable. By the way I am only 5'8 so that has something to do with it.

I emailed "Henry" about drilling and tapping
a Golden boy receiver (if the metal was strong enuff).
I told him I wouldn't want to ruin the receiver cover as
I really like the rifle.
He sent me a new receiver to (cover) to try to d&T.
The man is great and such a pleasure to do business with.
He goes to great lengths to keep his customers' happy.

Now THAT is Customer Service.

Makes me want to buy one of their products......

Truth! Also I received a "worked"
trigger and hammer to lighten
what I thought was a heavy trigger.
Zero cost.
I forget his name (sorry) but Mr "Henry"
could teach Washington a thing or two.
