Henry Big Boy reloads

There is a reloading section in the forum...you'll probably have better luck posting your request there.

I can't help you much, I'd go to a couple of reloading manuals to see what they say but I'm pretty sure you'd like someone with experience to tell you what they've found to be good.
 
Check the regular suspects. No rifle rated for the cartridge will be unable to tolerate normal loads. Go to Hodgdon.com and enter the load data area, select the pistol for the left column and the bullet weight from the second column and then retrieve data.
 
It's .45 Colt....(not .45 LC....or .45 Long Colt....)....when you're looking at the loading tables....maybe that's part of the confusion...

If I had revolvers in .45 Colt ....I'd use the same cartridge in the revolvers and a Henry Big Boy...

I have a Big Boy in .357 Mag....and I load the same 158 gr FMJ bullet for all my revolvers ( single and double action ) and the rifle.
 
Thanks BigJimP. My problem is that I have a 1919 Colt Army Service revolver that I must tip toe with the load. I also have a Ruger Blackhawk in which I hope to fire the same round as the Henry rifle. All of these will be with the 250gr FMJ
 
Ok, that makes more sense....but the Henry Big Boy will handle anything the Blackhawk will handle.../ its a strong rifle in my view ( or you could shoot the lighter loads in all the guns - if you want to )...

My only single action revolves...are new guns / Freedom Arms - that are built like tanks.../ I don't mess the older SAA's...but I know you want to be careful with them.

Whatever bullet you're loading...make sure it has a cannelure ...and its crimped properly at the cannelure ring - so you don't get any bullet setback when you're dropping rounds into the mag tube on the rifle ....( or in the revolvers for that matter )....
