Help!!!

Fellow gun nuts lend me thine assistance. I have a brand new rcbs die set for .223, and it is causing dents in the case right below the shoulder

I use the same dies. make sure nothing is inside the die like corn cob media or walnut media.

also don't use a lot of lube just enough to coat the case a bit. never done it but hear a lot of lube dents it.

It sounds like you are describing lube dents from sizing due to applying lubricant to the neck and shoulder areas of the case. Lubricant is normally needed only on the lower portion of the case. Most sizing dies have a vent hole near the shoulder that is intended to bleed off excessive lubricant but often do not work as intended. If you are using something like the RCBS case lube 2 and applied by rolling on with a pad, use a shop rag or similar to remove lubricant on and right below the case shoulder before sizing.
