I admit that I am not as well versed in handguns as I should, so please be gentle. Could some one tell me the fair market value of a Ruger KP944 .40 S&W with Hogue grips? Let's say the gun is 85%. Thanks for your help.

Welcome to TFL! I'm no expert in gun prices either but www.gunbroker.com is a good place to start. It's like an eBay for guns so you can usually get a ROUGH idea on the going rate for a certain gun there.
If you search for a Ruger P-94 the price for a NEW one falls in the $450 - $500 range. That will normally include 2 factory mags, hard case, original paperwork, etc. So considering that the one we're talking about is well used (about 85%)... I would say you're looking somewhere in the $300 price range.
That's just my guess... Are you looking to buy it or sell it?

I'd say with the gun and two mags, $300 is about right in that condition. If you only have one mag, I'd start at that price and drop $10 if anybody wants to whine about it. Ruger P series mags are inexpensive.
