help with upper I.D

this is my first post so a big hi to all.well i bought my first ar about 3 months ago without seeking any kind of council and i guess i got the shaft. so here it is i'm told it's a parts gun,oly lower with the upper receiver the same color but the barrel is a posphate kinda looking and it has a heavy 20" barrel that has a step down about an inch from the muzzle also it is nonchrome lined.The marking on the upper next to the sight is af that kinda made together,the gun seems to function fine,....... so please give me some help.....thanks pooh

well usually i try research and also talk to people who are in the know but on this one i bought then i got my computer and then i found this sight.the only thing on the upper is the letter A-F and the barrel is unmarked. thanks for the reply.....well what was really scary for me was when a person at a gun shop pointed out that it had a m-16 bolt carrier in it ,man what a confidence builder

they cut the lower reciever of the surplus military rifle
making the rest an un gun collection of parts

then they reassemble within US government guidelines
using a postban lower reciever

does yours have a muzzle compensator welded on?

i give 650.00 for the rifle,but before i bought it i pulled the bolt out it was clean like a new gun and no it does'nt have a brake,it is a crowned muzzle with no groove or anything on the end.it had perfect finish like a new gun ,the only thing that i found wrong with it looked like someone buffed the stock down with a sander.when i bought it looked like a new gun.man this thing was clean that's why i could'nt believe this thing is a parts gun.
 
If it functions, is properly headspaced, and is legal, then $650 isn't THAT bad of a deal. AR15's are basically "parts" guns anyway. Did you replace the carrier?

AF indicates that the upper was made by Bushmaster. What kind of lower is on it?
 
i guess it's headspaced ok but i haven't really thought about it ether. i think it's legal i bought it from a dealer that said he took it in on trade. The carrier was changed and i found a class 3 that bought it and it only cost me 10.00 difference(sold old one and another).i'm starting to get alittle better feeling about my ar already for a while i thought maybe i had gotten taken for a ride.....it has a oly lower a pcr 99.....thanks everybody for the reply's.
