Help with SKS Grenade Launcher Sight

I feel a bit silly asking this but I have was not able to find the answer via search function.

I have a Yugo SKS with a grenade launcher. I was cleaning it and raised the grenade "ladder" site to it's fully upright position.

My question is: How do I lower it??? Is there a release I can't find? Do I force it back down? (I tried that but it doesn't seem to want to budge.)

Help!

- and THANKS!

Not Silly

Where the sight swivels up there is a pin you have to push in with a fmj bullet tip or something similar. Then fold it down. The pin you have to push in is about 1/4" behind the pin the sight swivels on. Don't forget to turn your gas valve back down. I forgot once and the gun wouldn't cycle.

That did the trick!

Thanks KMAX!

I pushed in what appeared to be two spring-loaded pins (on either side) to release the sight.

I was SURE I had raised and lowered that sight before but I don't remember having to do this. Maybe I didn't actually lock it in place???

Anyway, THANKS again! I can put it back into the safe now!

Logistar, I had the exact same thing happen to me. For the life of me I couldn't find a pin or anything locking it open - and like you I sure thought it had gone up and down several times previously with no problems, so I more or less forced it closed. Hope I didn't break anything...
