Help with Police Positive Special

Hey experts! A friend offered to trade me a 1920 nickel plated (peeling and slightly pitted in some areas) 6" Police Positive Special for 1,000 rounds of .556. The gun has a serial number of 212574 with a lighter stamped d underneath the serial number. Is there any way you guys would know if this is a factory nickel job?

The only way to know if the nickel is factory would be to get a Colt letter. And even that would tell you only if the gun was shipped that way, not if it had been later buffed down and re-plated.

If you can post some good pictures, we might be able to make a pretty good evaluation of the gun, but usually those guns will run only about $250 or so, even in good condition, mainly because they made a whole lot of them. I admit I am unsure how much that ammo is worth, but you can probably judge that for yourself.
