Help with new purchase ideas

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello all. I recently sold my Kimber CDP Pro II that stopped at Novaks for a little bit of work along its way. I am really wanting to replace this 1911 with another 1911. I never could have afforded a full house custom 1911 (Novak, Ed Brown, Les Baer, Wilson Combat) and thats why I bought the Kimber CDP in the first place. Now I will have about $2000 to drop into a new 1911. I live close to Novaks (within 5 mins), but $2000 is still low for a custom gun, however, LST Lightening Strike Technologies (Dustin Bonar) shop isnt too far from my house either (withing 20 mins). I can get his signature custom Gaboon for $1895 or a standard 1911 platform built for about $1700. Does anyone know much about the Gaboon and its features vs a traditional 1911 custom build. I really dont know what I want, but I do know its gotta be a 1911 and now that I got alittle cash ahead, I would like to have a custom built one to carry/shoot and enjoy. I am also unsure of the finish that I would like to have done. I can get it parkerized or duracoated in any color. I am leaning towards that of a Wilson CQB OD Green Frame and matte black slide. I would like to get some ideas on 1911 options (cosmetic or function), finish colors, and any other feedback/advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like an intresting opportunity. I would start a written list of what you want and what you don't. Take your time and think it thru. Iv'e learned that for me opportunities like this don't happen often. It's good that you are doing your homework.

You want to be happy in the future with what you have built, and not regret it. Good Luck with your project, Eagle
