HELP with my 1911 !!!

So my new 1911 finally arrived. I took it to the range yesterday and fired 50 rounds. Groupings great at 10 meters.

I cleaned it afterwards and when I dry fired it the hammer does not make contact with the firing pin. It stops at the half-cock position.

A friend said to replace the sear spring. I don't want to replace anything yet til I hear any comments or suggestions from you guys.

I know some of you will say to take it back to the dealer for repair. I intend to but that will have to wait until Monday. I want to use it these coming three-day Holiday.

Thanks guys.

It is possible that there is something left over from the cleaning blocking the hammer. Take a look.

You didn't strip the lower assembly down. did you? If so, take it apart and reassemble it again. it is possible that you got something installed wrong. (If you are not experianced at this, you might want to get some help this time.)

Here's a step by step guide for stripping a 1911 down to its socks & undies.

I did the same thing, and almost lost the little plunget that rides on the safety. Also, if you stripped the lower assembly, then you may have gotten the sear spring/sear/disconnecter relationship messed up somehow when putting the hammer pivot spring back in. Theres a lot to keep going right and lined up in that last little pin push!

Take a look at HS's link. I'm a new 1911 guy myself, and it's saved my butt at least once already!
