Help with Maglight

My 4D maglight is OOC. It seems that the two batteries near the lens end are stuck in the tube. Anyone ever had this problem? How did you get them out, or is it a lost cause.

IIRC vinegar works to dissolve the crud. Failing that, remove the light's head, pull off the rubber switch boot, and loosen the 1/16" allen setscrew in the bottom of the plunger hole. That whole plastic assembly will then be free for tapping out.

What's your hourly rate for labor? If you spend an hour or two on it, you might as well just buy a 3D-cell new LED maglite (looks like the one on the right in this picture) that will kick that incandescent one's behind in every way, better durability, better reliability, higher brightness, and longer battery life, and do it all in a smaller package than you have now.

Also, I forgot before, but at least Energizer, Rayovac, and Duracell have programs whereby if you have a product damaged by cell leakage, you can send it in to them and they will reimburse you. I'm not sure if any other manufacturers also do that.

Thanks guys, ran by Wally world and got a Coleman 2AA led to get me through tonight. Really impressed with how bright it is. It wont do other things as good as the 4D Maglight though. Alas,I think they may be going the way of the revolver. I didnt think about sending it back, might think about that, although I dont know if its worth the trouble. I've had it for 10 years, BTW, they were Duracell batteries. Issued streamlight aint much.

Even better than that is the Pelican 7060 or 8060, which have better batteries and are brighter, charge faster, etc...

I've returned two different lights to Mag for replacements after batteries leaked and ruined the reflector. They replaced them with no questions asked.

I've had all different sizes, and find the 3D to be the most convenient / efficient.

LED replacement bulbs are now available to convert old lights over. I got one, at a cost of around $7 to $8, seems to work well.

I have two double A'a one I put the l.e.d.'s in, and it really helped alot brighter, I have on double d or c cant remeber, and a tripple d. Never had a problem with any of them. Thinking of converting a few more with the l.e.d.'s. I did not know about the warranty but if it is free for life send it in.
