I bought an pitiful looking sporterized Remington 03-A3 a couple days ago with plans to restore it to its former glory and found a very interesting marking on the barrel. Rifle receiver was made in January '44 and barrel is a 7-44 remington barrel. on the right side of the barrel just off the receiver is the letter "B" with a heart stamped into the metal. Anyone know what this might mean. I've posted about it on several other boards and gotten comments of a private gunsmith's personal marking to 101st airborne 502 PIR Bravo company's armorer mark. Anyone know anything or want to throw out a theory?
