Help with 5904 disassembly

Greetings everyone,

I have a 5904 that is really a nice piece. The thing functions flawlessly but the trigger pull leaves a lot to be desired. I took the grips off in an attempt to get a better look at what goes on inside and the thing was just filthy (I bought it used BTW). I cleaned what I could get to and things got better but I suspect that if I could completely disassemble the thing and really give it a good cleaning things would smooth out. Does anyone know of a good resource that shows how to do this? I did a little searching and I found a video by the American Gun Institute titled "S&W AUTO PISTOLS ARMORER'S COURSE" that might be what I'm looking for. Has anyone had any experience with this product and is it worth the money?

Thanks in advance.

Mike

I would heartily suggest the Gun Digest book "Firearms Assembly/Disassembly" by J.B. Wood, autopistol volume. These books are fantastic resources, and are available at most bookstores.

I've got the AGI DVD. It will show you how to detail strip your 5904 right down to the last pin. However... unless you need to replace or modify a part, a standard field strip is all that is needed for normal maintenance or cleaning.
