HELP!!! Which compact...Glock, S.A.???

Alright, I want an all-purpose handgun with about a 4" barrel that will safely shoot reloads, etc. I've been looking at the .40 Glock 23 but the kB horror stories scared me off because of the non-sully suppored barrels, the polygonal rifling, and the .40's high pressure nature. I've decided to go either 9mm or .45ACP. I like the compact .45 Glock 30 but their have been problems with the mags not racking right in the grip, and Glock won't fix. Forget that!!! Besides, I read the 9mm glocks are the only one's that don't need stronger springs for shooting +P rounds. So it looks like it's between the compact 9mm Glock 19, and the Springfield Extreme Duty 9mm. I'm leaning towards Glock.

...but what should I consider as far as .45ACP goes? I like the Sig P245, but it only holds 6 rds.!!! HEEELP!!!

Reloads and Glocks

I've shot nearly 5k of reloads through my .40sw model Glocks.I buy from one and only one dependable reloader.Shoot 165-155gr reloads, stay away from heavier weights 180gr,and only shoot FMJ no lead. And always thoroughly clean the pistol after 100 rounds of fire.Tolerances are within like new standards and definetly hits point of aim.Really no concerns about reloads here.SAFE-SHOOTING!

Which Compact ?

Buy the Sig P 245 , However As a long time shooter and Firearms dealer, I feel and am sure others will agree that your concerns over the the Glocks with ammo, springs and especially the excellent 40 S&W cartridge seem uncalled for. Aside from not being a fan of 9 mm's the Glock 19 is an excellent choice but not near as good as the 23 in 40 S&W. If you shoot plus P's frequently, while not really needed, its always a good idea to put a good Wolf Heavy duty recoil spring in any carry gun for under $10.
Personally I'm never going to understand how a 6 plus 1 compact .45 acp carry pistol is going to leave someone under gunned and short on ammo if he can shoot it. Buy the Sig P 245 and I'll be happy to sell you one at a great price to show you what a real gun is all about but when you check a round a do some research as you are, you always come out on top and I'm sure you will do well.

I'm at the range weekly shooting my Glock 27 among other weapons I own and I would recommend it without any reservation. All my LEO friends carry it as backup and off duty.

I keep it clean, lightly lubed, and use factoy SAMMI rated ammo purchased in bulk for the cost savings.

I know many who shoot their reloads without any problem but I shoot factory.

If you keep clean, lubed and shoot factory, then put the KBs stories to rest. I do not know anyone personally who has had a KB experience, only those I read on this site or those on glocktalk who openly admit that they goofed when reloading.

Get a 27 and don't look back, you will love it.

I believe that the G36 is the pistol that you describe.
The Pearce +1 Grip Extenders improve the feel of the gun, and they bring the magazine capacity up to 7 rounds.

If you reload, I would use jacketed bullets.

try the glock g30. the barrel is about 4" long, and its a potent .45 with 10 round magazine. its perfect. i've got one and i love it.

For glock 9mm I have a 26 and 19 and feel both are great. They are simple reliable pistols and even with +p+ ammo they are fine stock. No new springs or anything.

My only 40*&* is a full size 22, and it is also stock and I run hot factory rounds through it as well.

I have the 36 with the stock magazines and since my hands fit on it fine I do not want the plus 1 extensions. It is as narrow as the 19 and 23 but feels and is a bit longer in the grip, if you hold them side by side you will see what I mean. Some of my rough fit holsters fit the 19 and 36 fine as they are close in size. The good tight fit ones do not swap between the two. Six rounds in the mag and one in the chamber are fine by me if I trust the gun.

Most of the problems with the kbs in any gun are due to bad reloads or bad ammo. Glock stock barrels do lead badly due to the design, but proper cleaning lets me run the federal high antimoney lead loads through my 10mm glocks.

Decide on a round and capacity and go from there. Read the manual and use your head and things will be fine. Most kbs do not always get followups to the initial explosion of a friend of a friend. Those that do often show double charges in handloads or something else being the problem. I have seen kb posts for kimbers and other firearms.

I personally feel the added springs are only needed when shooting only the hottest of handloads on a continual basis. I plan to handload for my glock 20. I bought a kkm 6 inch barrel for the extra length and tighter chamber. And I will get a stronger 22-24 recoil spring as well. But these will be the only rounds run through my 20.

I would recommend HK USP 9C. Absolutely reliable (more than 2000 rds without any problems), accurate, handles +P, safe to handle.
