Help trade advice, quick

I have a guy that wants to trade his Glock 22 for my Ruger SP101. The Ruger was my EDC up until I got a Glock 23. The Ruger has just been laying in the safe for the last few months.

Is there that much of a difference between the 22 and the 23 to justify doing the trade?

The Glock 22 is Gen3 with 3 mags, the Ruger has Altamont grip inserts.

Just based on online prices, its about even money. Give or take 50 bucks.

Comes down to what you want more I suppose.

Thanks for your reply. I know it is pretty even of a trade, but is there a real advantage to the 22 over the 23.

Smaller and carries 2 less rounds.

As far as feel and shootability, might have to wait for a Glock guy, I'm sure there's one lurking somewhere:)

He means the 23 is smaller.

Glock 22 is easier to shoot, probably a bit less recoil. I prefer the grip feel/shape on the Glock 23 and if you find the recoil comfortable on that, I don't know why I would bother getting a 22 also.

To me it's good having different types of guns, but if you have no interest in shooting the SP might as well trade it for something. I regret selling mine.

Do you feel the need for a slightly larger version of what you already have? I would be hard pressed to give up a revolver for a slightly different Glock variation than what I already have. That's just me, though.

Depends.
If you never shoot the revolver, and are not particulary fascinated with revolvers (as I am), then keeping it serves no real purpose.

Since you carry the G23 as well, having a near-identical back-up makes sense.
If your primary should ever break (yeah, I know, perish the thought) or be at the 'smith getting some custom work done...or be in the evidence locker as the result of a self-defense shooting on your part...it would be comforting to have that G22.

If it helps you, I traded my G23 for a G22. I like the G22 more, less recoil, better grip, more rounds (yes I know a G22 magazine will fit in a G23).

I use a revolver as my BUG, so go for it man. Then you could use the G22 as a primary and the G23 as your BUG.

I'd be tempted to do that trade.

As mentioned the SP101 is just sitting around and not getting used. Your framiliar with the Glock since you have a 23. I have a G23 as well and picked up a LE G22 with night sights for a good price. The G23 get's carried and the G22 is my bedside HD pistol. Both get fired at the range.;)

5whiskey - That is what I decided. There just is not enough difference in the G23 and the G22 to justify trading the SP101 for it.
