Help this young man find THIS rifle...

Last year when I stumbled across a limited run of Browning's LW Stalker 308 with a fluted 18" CARBINE barrel, I snatched one up immediately. I posted about it here:

I know a very special young man who is hell-bent on finding this rifle after I let him carry it for a week of deer hunting this month.
He took a very nice Wisconsin doe with it, and is wanting to purchase his first deer rifle. He has used Rem 7400's and pumps in the past, but really likes this Browning Carbine.

Smile on this young man's face is priceless:

Here he is with his dad and a better look at my BAR Carbine I let him carry for the week:

So I'm helping him try to locate one of these for him to buy. He's been saving up for a long time for his first deer rifle purchase.

Wondering if anyone here has the 18" fluted 308 carbine and would consider parting with it? He would be jumping at the chance to own this rifle.
Or if you might know someone/somewhere that one could be located any leads would be greatly appreciated.

I know the regluar Browning LW Stalker has a 20" non-fluted barrel and can be found fairly easily, but finding the 18" fluted carbine version is really what we are after.

I've been watching GunBroker and GunsAmerica regularly, but nothing yet....

Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the link, but that is the normal LW Stalker with the non-fluted 20" barrel.

Holding out for finding the 18" fluted carbine version....
I guess if we can't find it we could get the 20" non-fluted model and chop the barrel a bit....

You're probably going to have to, as only 150 of the fluted 18" carbines were ever made, AFAIK - unless you sell him yours, of course. :p.

I knew it would be quite a long shot to find 1 rifle out of 149 (since I already had one).... I know a few people on these outdoor forums snatched one up after I posted about getting one, that's when a few were still floating about on GunBroker and GunsAmerica. Couldn't hurt to ask if someone would consider selling theirs.

I called all around the country to the larger gunshops just to see if they might have one or know where one was.

No luck.

I even hunted down a reference to this carbine on the internet posted by a Pheasants Forever raffle from a few years ago. They gave away two of these guns as raffle prizes. I tracked down the names of the two winners, found some contact information, and even gave them a call. No luck with one, and the other person had sold the gun for cash.

Can't say we weren't putting in the effort....

BUT, I figured there just might be one sitting in the rack of some small, outta-the-way gunshop in some little town, somewhere in the country.

And what do you know! GREAT NEWS! After posting this on two well-traveled rifle forums, we hit PAY DIRT! I got a tip from one of the internet forums where a person remembered seeing one in the rack of a small-town gunshop in Minnesota. He couldn't remember the name of the shop but knew the town.

I searched the net for shops in/around that town and got a few phone numbers. Called the first with no luck, but they told me to call a certain shop next.

I called that next shop and in their rack indeed was a brand new Browning fluted carbine stalker 308!! :)

I purchased it instantly so it wouldn't slip away.

....internet can be a powerful thing. Almost scary at times....

Congrats on the new rifle, and the sucessful hunt (both for the rifle and the doe.)

That is quite a handy looking little carbine............now I think I want one:D
