Shin is wanting a rifle in .45-70 - in an Autoloading rifle.
He is wanting a BAR type gun... it can be big and heavy.
Is there ANY autorifle in that caliber OR is there any rifle that could be easily converted?
 
I suspect he's out of luck. If he wants to do his own design, I'd suggest looking at the old British 303 rimmed cartridge machine guns for inspiration. Perhaps some sort of redesigned Bren Gun?
Or maybe something like a Russian Tokarev?? Didn't it fire a big rimmed cartridge? Maybe that could be converted by some genius of a gunsmith. But I believe even the original had problems.
 
IIRC, someone converted a commercial BAR to .458 several years back. The .300 Win Mag has the same parent case..

One of our members has a LaFrance M1 Carbine in .45 Super. Would that work?

So - you could convert a Saiga AK... NICE. I think we found our answer. :D
 
or maybe Robinson could import a .410 vepr...
