Help, screwed up chamber threads.

Got my new Treso nipples yesterday and was installing them. Five went in like butter. One chamber I couldn't get started, so I tried a couple of the other nipples. No luck. Put the original Pietta nipple back in just to check. Went in fine. Tried the Tresos again. At one point I gave it a little extra pressure, not much, just to see if it would work through. No luck. Tried the original again and now I cant get that one in.

I tried to look at the threads with a bore light and a jewelers loop. It was hard to see, but it looks like a couple of the first threads may be buggered a little.

I'm no machinist, but it seems like I'm screwed (no pun intended) unless I can find an m6 x .75 screw somewhere to send through from the chamber side and maybe clear out the log jamb? Second option would be to purchase a tap? Can't find anything locally so I'll have to order something on the internet.

What do you guys think?

You should be able to find a M6x75 machine screw at the local hardware store. Yes, carefully screwing it in from the cylinder chamber side should dress the threads. No need to buy a tap unless they're really buggered bad--taps tend to remove metal. You should need only to straighten it out a little.

Can't find any locally. Everyone has M6 x 1, but not M6 x .75
I'll keep trying but my fall back is the tap for $4.27 from Bisco Tool Supply.
I can have a friend pick it up on the way in to work.
If I can run it from the chamber side it should pretty much screw in like a screw till it hits the obstruction, no?
I'm not sure if the threading runs all the way into the chamber or not.

Update 8/16/11: Found a local bicycle shop that says they have them, so I'll pick one up on the way home from work.

Update 8/16/11: Guy at bicycle shop must have been on crack. They didn't have them. On to plan B. Tap arriving today.

Update 8/18/11: Tap worked, back in business!
